Former Ernst & Young boss to grow insurance risk and actuarial practice.

KPMG has appointed Tim Roff as head of insurance risk and actuarial services for KPMG Europe LLP.

Roff will be responsible for growing and developing KPMG’s insurance risk and actuarial practice on a pan-European basis.

He will be based in London and will report directly to Jörg Hashagen, head of financial services advisory for KPMG Europe LLP.

Roff joins KPMG from Ernst & Young, where he held positions as global and UK actuarial leader. Prior to Ernst & Young, Roff was a principal of Tillinghast-Towers Perrin.

Jörg Hashagen said: “We are delighted to welcome Tim to our Insurance Risk and Actuarial Services team.

"Not only will our insurance clients benefit from Tim’s 20-plus years of experience working in the industry, they will also benefit from his particular expertise in leading major actuarial consulting assignments for a wide range of financial services organisations.

"In addition, Tim’s business-building experience will be invaluable as we grow our insurance risk and actuarial teams across Europe.”

Roff said: “As the insurance industry continues to tackle the regulatory, compliance and financial reporting challenges it faces, finding business partners who have a keen understanding and appreciation of these issues, and their bottom-line implications, becomes critical.

"We appreciate this need, and I am excited to be working across KPMG Europe to further develop our insurance risk and actuarial team so we can provide the marketing-leading solutions and support our clients require.”
