Work carried out by office has transferred to Birmingham and Ipswich

Legal & General (L&G) has closed its Belfast office.

The claims and customer service work carried out in the office has moved to the insurer’s service centres in Birmingham and Ipswich.

An L&G spokeswoman said: “The move has meant that both brokers and customers will benefit from the latest claims servicing models which will enable us to remain competitive.

“Legal & General is committed to the Northern Ireland market and we want to be able to meet current and future demands in the most cost effective manner possible.”

The office closure, which took place in March this year, was part of the restructuring that the insurer announced at the end of 2013.

Under this phase of the restructuring, L&G divided Legal & General Assurance Society (LGAS) into three business units: LGAS Insurance, LGAS Corporate and LGAS Retail Savings.

The move closely followed an earlier part of the restructuring programme that resulted in 600 job cuts.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
