Ian Viney, head of general insurance at Legal & General (L&G), is always keen to blow his own trumpet. As a trombone player and conductor for his brass band Jackfield it was music to Viney's ears to be in the UK brass band final in Preston recently.

Unfortunatley, his efforts were to no avail as his band did not get ranked out of the 25 finalists. But his band are top quality nevertheless, because when the stage version of the film Brassed Off played at the Birmingham Rep last year, Viney's brass band was one of three drafted in to play the Grimethorpe Colliery Band.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
