LAS Claims will take on extra staff over the festive period to handle claims coming from the recent heavy rain across the UK.

In a statement, the loss adjuster said its staff in Birmingham and Bristol were on high alert. LAS is already handling claims in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, where dozens of people were evacuated on Sunday after heavy flooding.

LAS chief operating operating officer Max Dunworth said: “We have been working over the past few days to finalise our plans to respond to any weather-related increase in volumes over the festive season. Our plans cover our main service centres in Birmingham and Bristol, and our UK-wide surveyors, loss adjusters and contractor network.”

“We have been liaising with our key clients over the past 24 hours to understand their plans and expectations. We are gearing up for additional staffing and resourcing over the Christmas period. We are prepared to respond effectively to manage claims efficiently and have contingencies in place for the Bank holidays.”

Dunworth added that LAS staff will stay on standby over the weekend and will remain so on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
