Major insurers set to contribute to motor claims database

Technology

Data experts LexisNexis will launch an electronic no claims discount database later this month, Insurance Times understands.

At least a dozen insurers have committed their support to the project, which is the latest technological breakthrough sweeping through personal lines insurance.

LexisNexis managing director Dan Marshall said: “We’re very excited about the project; we’ve been working on it for about nine months now with a number of contributor insurers.

“We’ve built the database and we’ll be getting our first contributions later this month, building up to a significant level of contributions by the end of Q2.”

The next step for LexisNexis is hooking up the database to insurer and broker software systems so that it can be accessed in real time at point of quote.
