Loss adjusters have been called in to investigate claims brought as a result of major lightning strikes in the West Midlands this week.

Birmingham was one of the worst hit areas, with several major strikes causing damage to property.

GAB Robins' major & complex loss team is currently investigating a £1.2m lightning strike claim in the city. Eyewitnesses said lightning struck an electricity pylon last Sunday sparking a fire in the roof of a nearby business. It is believed a major gas pipe may have ruptured.

A GAB Robins spokesman said the business was out of operation, with the estimated cost to the tenant for contents and business interruption expected to exceed £1.2m.
