Abbey has gone all David Dickinson and told us to love our junk.

According to research done by the home insurer, “the nation is hoarding £50m worth of inherited items and hand-me-downs that they don’t actually like”.

An average person owns £9,466 of junk. So, in an age of Cash in the Attic and eBay, how can we take advantage?

Er...according to Abbey, no action is needed.

Oh, except to make sure that all of your junk that you didn’t know was worth nearly ten grand and you don’t like is properly insured with its (aptly named) Peace of Mind home insurance product.

Backchat doesn’t think that even the junk-loving orange-skinned one would go as far as that.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
