Software Solutions Partners (SSP) has signed Maltese insurer Middlesea Insurance as its first European client. Middlesea, which has a 25% share of the Maltese market, is to implement SSP's corporate broking system Insight.

The insurer said it bought the Insight package after a full review of available systems. It is due to go live with Insight at the beginning of 2005.

SSP chief executive David Rasche said: "Middlesea represents the first implementation of Insight in Europe. The system will be used for all classes of business and for insurance functions ranging from claims handling and underwriting to reinsurance management."

Middlesea general manager Joseph Rizzo said: "We are committed to using this comprehensive underwriting computer system, which will integrate in real-time all our agents and binder holders.

"As well as enhancing service levels, it will give management better tools with which to evaluate our portfolio."

Outside of the UK, brokers in South Africa, Republic of Ireland and the Middle East already use the Insight product.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
