Changes at the top for Lloyd’s insurer

Mark Wood Chaucer

Mark Wood has been ratified as chairman of Chaucer Syndicates Limited following Bob Deutsch’s resignation.

Wood took over on October 1 but the move was only rubber-stamped by the board yesterday.

The board also gave the nod for Chris Stokes to officially become the chairman of the audit committee.

Non-executive directors Andrew Robinson, executive vice president at the Hanover Group, and Tim Carroll, continue in their roles.

American-based insurer the Hanover Group snapped up Chaucer earlier this year.

Chaucer chief executive Bob Stuchbery said: “I would like to thank Bob Deutsch and Richard Scholes for their dedicated service to Chaucer over the last eight years and I look forward to working with both Mark Wood and Christopher Stooke in their new roles.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
