Broker sets up dedicated Scottish practice for devolved services

Giant broker Marsh has launched a Scottish public sector practice to target fire and police authorities, social housing, Scottish government and their agencies.

Marsh’s has a wide range of public sector clients in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, providing risk management and insurance advice.

Gordon McLagan, leader of the Scottish public sector practice, said: “The recession is creating its own set of risks of public sector organisations. For example, many budgets and revenues have been squeezed yet efficiency targets remain, and organisations still need to find innovative ways of delivering services that will have a positive impact on the communities that they serve.

“As well as UK law, Scottish public sector organisations are also subject to legislation from the Scottish Government on diverse issues such as health and safety, healthcare reform and education. This creates another layer of unique risk for Scottish public sector organisations.

“Marsh is committed to providing the highest professional standards to our public sector clients in Scotland. With the establishment of our dedicated Scottish Public Sector Practice, we are well-placed to provide our clients with expert risk management advice they need to cope with the significant challenges that lie ahead.”
