’I look forward to working with our global teams to drive innovation for our clients,’ says appointee

Aon has appointed Phil Smaje as its new global industry specialty leader for transportation and logistics.

Smaje joined Aon in 2023 and currently serves as chief broking officer for transportation and logistics.

His previous leadership roles include chief executive of aerospace and global head of broking at WTW and chief executive at Piiq Risk Partners.

He will take up his new role on 1 October 2025.

Smaje said: “Transportation and logistics is a dynamic, important and evolving sector and I look forward to working with our global teams to drive innovation for our clients and deliver outstanding results for them.”

Succession

Smaje succeeds Lee Meyrick, who will assume the role of chair of a newly created risk capital transportation and logistics vertical until his retirement at the end of 2026.

Meyrick has served in global specialty leadership roles at Aon for the past eight years, following a career in the industry that included senior positions at XL Catlin and AIG.

Meyrick said: “It’s been a privilege to lead such a talented team and contribute to Aon’s growth in this space. I’m excited to support Smaje and the business in my new role as chair and ensure a smooth and successful transition.”
