Two Biba board members step down

Brendan McManus, Giles

Biba has appointed Giles chief executive Brendan McManus as deputy chairman with immediate effect.

McManus has sat on the Biba board for three years. He becomes deputy chairman following a nomination process and a unanimous decision by the board.

McManus said: “I am delighted to be selected for such an important role. I’m keen to continue contributing to the broking sector especially during a time when there is so much change affecting brokers.”

Chairman Andy Homer told Insurance Times in an interview in May that he was keen to bring a deputy on board.

Homer added: “I am delighted that Brendan has agreed to take on the role as deputy chairman. This provides welcome continuity for the board and the Biba executive as we develop our long term strategy to enhance the representation and service our ever changing membership is demanding.”

McManus joined Giles earlier this year. He was previously chief executive of Willis UK and managing director at RSA.

Also at Biba’s AGM Yutree Insurance’s Kevin Hancock was appointed to the board as chairman of Biba’s general insurance brokers’ committee.

Aon’s Lorraine Dillett and Ian Dickinson from Brunsdon LLP stepped down following the completion of their term in office.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
