MGA has hired Lyndsey Barnett and Laura Steele

Managing general agency (MGA) Modus has hired two more executives from Arthur J Gallagher.

Lyndsey Barnett has been appointed to the newly created role of head of broker engagement.

She will be responsible for promoting Modus’s e-traded open market products to and managing its relationships with small to medium sized brokers.

Barnett joins Modus from Pen Underwriting, part of Arthur J Gallagher, where she headed up its broker engagement activity.

The MGA has also hired Laura Steele as head of strategic distribution.

She will be responsible for developing new relationships as well as managing those with strategic partners.

Steele joins Modus from e-Underwriting, the e-trading division of Gallagher’s UK underwriting agency, where she was head of strategic partner distribution for the past three years.

Last month Gallagher e-Underwriting head of product development Louise Alexandra Doyle joined Modus Underwriting as head of product development.

Modus was launched by three former members of e-Underwriting.

Modus executive director Scott Banks said: “It is important that we have the right senior team on board to ensure we not only achieve our ambitions but also deliver a service that is second to none to brokers.

“Both Lyndsey and Louise have outstanding experience in their respective areas of expertise and we are delighted to welcome them to our fast growing team.”

Modus specialises in underwriting and distributing auto-rating household, landlords’ and commercial products through software houses and direct to brokers in the UK.

Launched at the beginning of 2015, the business aims to be writing more than £100m annual gross written premium within 5 years.
