MP calls for govt action on soaring construction rates

Labour MP for Liverpool, Walton, Steve Rotheram has called for government action over rising premium costs for construction firms.

Speaking in a Commons debate this week, Rotheram said increasing rates could price some firms out of the market.

“Pressure must be brought to bear to ensure that businesses are not priced out of the market by excessive insurance premiums,” he said.

“We need to restore confidence in the domestic construction sector.”
