Insurance software giant Mynd this week incorporated a pre-existing medical conditions feature into its personal injury claims system.

The new version of the system, COA Release 1.4, will let claims professionals make more accurate assessments of a claim affected by a pre-existing medical condition where, for instance, that condition has been exacerbated by the accident.

Mike Dixon, principal business consultant, Mynd, said: "It is easy to assume the injured person was totally fit and well at the time of the accident.

"When assessing compensation levels, the level of functionality which COA contains to acknowledge pre-existing conditions allows the claims professional to adjust the suggested compensation model accordingly."
