’Their insight and independent challenge will be invaluable in helping the board oversee the next phase of integration,’ says chair

Ageas UK and Esure have strengthened their boards with the appointment of Jane Mustoe and James Turner as independent non-executive directors.

The appointments come as Ageas continues the integration of Esure following its acquisition of the personal lines insurer, with both directors set to bring significant experience in technology, finance, risk and business transformation.

Mustoe is currently a senior technology director at Tesco and sits on the retailer’s UK leadership team. She is responsible for technology across commercial operations, supply chain and fulfilment, as well as Tesco’s innovation lab.

She also serves on the board of data science and customer insights business Dunnhumby.

Before joining Tesco, Mustoe spent more than 20 years in financial services, holding senior technology and operations roles at RBS and Barclays. She has led large-scale technology modernisation programmes, including the implementation of AI-driven customer initiatives and upgrades to payroll, finance and supply chain systems.

Turner experience

Turner, meanwhile, brings more than three decades of experience across financial services, with a background spanning finance, risk, compliance, audit and corporate strategy.

Most recently, he served as strategic finance director at Standard Life, where he oversaw strategy, mergers and acquisitions, treasury, tax and capital management.

He also held senior board-level roles at Prudential, including group chief finance officer and group chief risk and compliance officer, giving him extensive experience of regulatory, capital and transformation programmes.

Alison Platt, chair of the Ageas UK and Esure board, said: ”As we continue to integrate Ageas UK and esure, their insight and independent challenge will be invaluable in helping the board oversee the next phase of integration, ensuring we successfully combine the strengths of both businesses while maintaining strong governance, delivering for our customers and creating long-term value for all our stakeholders.

“Mustoe’s experience leading major technology modernisation and innovation programmes, together with Turner’s extensive board, finance, risk and regulatory experience, will provide important perspectives as we continue to build an even stronger, more integrated business for the future.”
