‘Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not always equally visible or accessible,’ says head

Allianz UK teamed up with Barnardo’s to introduce more than 100 young people to careers in insurance.

The Hello Future You event, held at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham, offered practical workplace skills, networking opportunities and insights into roles across the insurance industry.

The free event is the second careers initiative delivered by Allianz and the children’s charity, providing young people supported by Barnardo’s with opportunities to explore different career paths and build confidence.

Workshops covered interview techniques, first impressions, networking and recruitment, alongside activities exploring artificial intelligence and insurance fraud investigation.

Zoe Ashdown, head of employee proposition, inclusion and social impact at Allianz UK, said the partnership aimed to make career opportunities more accessible.

“Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not always equally visible or accessible,” she said.

“Through our partnership with Barnardo’s, we’re helping young people build practical skills, make valuable connections and discover career paths they may not previously have considered.”

Beyond traditional roles

The event highlighted the breadth of careers available in insurance, including technology, cyber security, data and AI, engineering, risk, fraud investigation, marketing, finance and customer service.

Attendees also heard about different routes into the sector, from apprenticeships and school-leaver programmes to university degrees and career changes.

The initiative comes following Barnardo’s highlighting that nearly one million young people across the UK are not in education, employment or training, through its No Young Person Left Behind campaign.

Lynn Perry, chief executive at Barnardo’s, said young people continued to face barriers to accessing employment opportunities.

“We’re hugely grateful to our partners at Allianz for this event, which will help young people with many of the skills they need to build a future they can look forward to,” she said.
