Aviva’s Amanda Blanc talks on her first major results call

Aviva’s new chief executive Amanda Blanc will not break up the business.

Blanc has faced calls to split the life and general insurance business.

But according to the Evening Standard, Blanc said: ” “My ambition is to be the UK’s leading insurer. The UK market is at the heart of this business. We do not believe a break up is the right thing to do.”

In a conference call with analysts, Blanc stressed that Aviva was number one in UK life and general insurance, and number two in protection. It had an excellent franchise it could build on.

However, Blanc has hinted she is prepared to sell foreign businesses.

Aviva earlier today revealed a substantial hit on Covid, with its worst UK underwriting performance in years.
