The new appointee will take over the role from Jane Kielty, current UK head of commercial risk at the broker

Broker Aon has appointed a new UK chief commercial officer (CCO), who has been given a wider remit to look at the large and mid-market sectors across the country.

Matthew Alcott will join the broker’s UK leadership team and report into UK chief executive Julie Page, as well as the global CCO team, led by Michael Moran.

Aon’s internal appointment of Alcott will see him step up from his position as regional director for the south region across all Aon propositions – a role he has held since late 2021.

With a background in risk engineering, including time spent working with global insurers and brokers, Alcott has been with Aon for just over a decade.

He initially led sales and marketing for part of the UK Commercial Risk (CR) business, but in more recent years has had roles as regional managing director for the central region within CR.

Matthew will be taking over the role from Jane Kielty, current head of commercial risk UK at Aon – the broker said both will work closely together to ensure a smooth transition.

In addition to his new CCO responsibilities, Alcott will also serve as Aon’s large and mid-market segment leader – working alongside Michelle Mason in her capacity leading the major complex and enterprise segment in the UK.

Great addition

Commenting on the appointment, Page said: “Matthew will be a great addition to Aon’s UK executive team.

“His wide-ranging experience in the firm in delivering risk solutions, leading clients and developing growth strategies makes him the perfect choice to help us achieve our growth ambitions in the UK and to ensure we deliver the best of Aon to our clients.”

Alcott added: “What a way to start a new year – I will really enjoy getting stuck into the new role.

“I’m particularly looking forward to continuing to working across all aspects of our business and building on the strong foundations to further grow in the UK and better serve existing and new clients.”
