’Her appointment forms part of our ongoing growth plans,’ says chief executive

Arch Insurance International has named Kirsten Valder as its new deputy chief executive.

Valder will be based in London and take responsibility for supporting the development and evolution of platforms in the London market, UK regional market, Australia, Bermuda and the EU.

She will take up the role effective immediately and report to chief executive Hugh Sturgess.

“Her appointment forms part of our ongoing growth plans, as we look to boost our overall market position and amplify our value and offering to brokers and customers,” Sturgess said.

Experience

Valder has been part of Arch’s senior leadership team for 10 years and was chief claims officer until 2021.

She was then promoted to chief administrative officer, a position that saw her take responsibility for claims, legal, human resources and compliance.

“Kirsten has played a leading role in the expansion of Arch Insurance International,” Sturgess said.

“Her deep understanding of our organisation, coupled with her wealth of technical and market knowledge, make her a natural fit for the role.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
