The broker has significant ambitions for its London market capability, which the new recruit will help drive

Aston Lark has hired Marsh’s former regional director Robert Beere as director of Lloyd’s broker Incepta, which was acquired by the group in August 2020.

This announcement is a statement of intent from Aston Lark to continue to build out its London market capability, especially across property, casualty and terrorism.

The move will also see current Incepta directors Paul Smith and Clive Gilbert exiting the business this summer.

Stuart Rootham, Aston Lark Group managing director, said: “We are excited for Beere to be joining the Incepta team in November.

”As part of our overall growth vision, Aston Lark has significant ambitions for our London market capability.

”It’s an important pillar of our offering and we will continue to hire experienced talent and seek further acquisitions to build on the expertise and strength already provided by Incepta, Brunel Professions and Protean Risks.”

New challenge

Beere will be joining Incepta director and underwriter James Hancock.

In his new role, he will be responsible for driving the group’s London market property and casualty business forward, supporting the group’s own placement requirements and expanding third-party wholesale broker distribution.

Beere is a Lloyd’s and London market broker specialising in property and package business. He is well known in the insurance market, with 23 years of experience.

Speaking about his appointment, Beere said he was delighted to be joining the Incepta team as well as the wider Aston Lark Group.

He said: “After a long and successful career with Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) and subsequently Marsh, I’m excited to now be taking on a new challenge, helping Aston Lark deliver on their bold London market ambitions.”

Beere has spent the past 15 years of his career at JLT-Marsh, where he most recently worked as regional director for London market risks.

Prior to this, he spent four years as a property insurance broker at Aon.

Incepta specialises in providing property, casualty and professional indemnity solutions in the London market to regional brokers. It has a focus on high service standards and market expertise.
