He had been with the business for 13 years

Aviva’s chief operating officer Hugh Hessing has left the business after 13 years, the insurer confirmed today.

In a statement, Aviva said: ”We’d like to thank Hugh for his contribution to Aviva during the past 13 years.

”Hugh has been instrumental in helping Aviva better serve its customers, most recently as chief operating officer of Aviva UK Insurance.

”We wish him the very best for the future.

Hessing was appointed as COO in July 2018. He previously worked as UK customer services director and before that was chief executive of Aviva Ireland.

No reason was given for Hessing’s departure.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
