’Her knowledge of the motor market combined with her expertise and experience in the risk consulting space made her the ideal person for this role,’ says head

Axa XL has appointed Poonam Jivram as head of motor underwriting for UK and Lloyd’s.

In her new role, she is responsible for developing and executing the strategic underwriting direction for the UK and Lloyd’s motor fleet insurance business, driving profitable growth and strengthening relationships with brokers and clients.

She will also play a key role in developing new products.

Ben Kinsella, head of risk managed underwriting for UK and Lloyd’s at Axa XL, said: “One of the major challenges facing the commercial motor fleet market is the growth in electric vehicles (EVs) and the differing risk profile these vehicles pose.

”Wider adoption of EVs, other alternative fuel vehicles and autonomous vehicles in commercial motor fleets is now inevitable. An insurer who not only understands this evolving risk landscape, but also knows how to manage it, is vital and more valuable than ever.”

‘Ideal’ hire

Jivram has served at Axa XL for over two years and most recently held the position of practice group leader for motor.

Prior to joining Axa XL, Jivram served at insurtech Zego for over two years.

Kinsella added: ”Jivram’s knowledge of the motor market combined with her expertise and experience in the risk consulting space made her the ideal person for this role.

”She is a great addition and will make a valuable contribution to the UK and Lloyd’s motor team and the wider retail business.”
