’The role of insurance brokers and the importance of the broking industry is critical in an ever more changing, complicated and risk orientated world,’ says appointee
Biba has reshuffled its main board, with Alistair Fraser and Phil Williams taking up new roles.
Fraser, who is the international corporate and commercial leader at Marsh, will become chair of the Large Brokers’ Advisory Board (LBAB), while Williams has been appointed deputy chair.
Fraser, who used to serve as deputy chair for the board, said: “I am looking forward to working with my fellow board members to help Biba advise all relevant stakeholders on the key insurance issues facing its members and their customers.
“The role of insurance brokers and the importance of the broking industry is critical in an ever more changing, complicated and risk orientated world. I cannot wait to get started.”
Williams added: “I have always really admired the work Biba does on behalf of insurance brokers and their customers and have found being actively involved thoroughly rewarding.
“I hope that I can fill Fraser’s shoes well and I will certainly do my best to represent Biba’s larger broker members.”
Stepping down
These changes come following Carl Evans, chair of professional risks division at Griffiths and Armour, stepping down as chair of LBAB.

Evans said: “It’s been my great pleasure to have served on LBAB for eight years and I’ve had a fabulous five years as chair.
“LBAB is one of Biba’s most important advisory boards and I am delighted with the quality of those involved and the passionate debate we have been able to stimulate, that has ultimately led to positive results for members.”
Graeme Trudgill, chief executive at Biba, added: “Our structure limits the time that anyone can remain on our boards and I am always sorry to see brokers stepping down.
”Evans has given us five years of inspiration, dedication and service, as well has helping us to navigate Covid and its fall out.
“I am delighted he will still be active on the ‘back- benches’ of Biba sharing his knowledge and experience.
“Having such influential figures as Fraser and Williams join LBAB has been really beneficial and I am sure they will continue to make a real difference in their new roles.”
