The appointment links to the ‘wider Ardonagh Specialty strategy and international growth plans’, says chief executive

Lloyd’s broker Bishopsgate has appointed Conor Geraghty as managing director of its newly formed international and Ireland division.

Geraghty joins the team following more than 10 years at Miller Insurance Services, where he was joint head of the professional and financial risks business for the UK and international, managing a division of over 35 people.

In his new role, Geraghty will oversee a full service wholesale division across multiple lines, including casualty, professional liability, cyber and property. He will also contribute to growing the broker’s distribution outside of the UK.

Initially, he will be targeting the Republic of Ireland and Australasia, with ambitions to expand into continental Europe in 2022.

Geraghty will report to Bishopsgate’s chief executive Graham Kilby.

Bringing ‘flair’

Kilby said: “I’m proud of the client offering Bishopsgate has built over the last few years and I’m incredibly excited that Conor is joining us to take that to the next stage. His knowledge and experience are going to add depth to our global distribution strategy.

“Conor’s appointment [also] links to the wider Ardonagh Specialty strategy and international growth plans – to which the Bishopsgate team brings its own particular expertise.”

Bishopsgate became part of Ardonagh Specialty in 2018.

Geraghty added: “I’m delighted to be at Bishopsgate and I’m looking forward to helping Graham and the rest of the team build strong relationships in new territories and bring their flair for specialty insurance to more clients and businesses.

“Having the weight and combined expertise of Ardonagh Specialty behind us is going to help us create best in class product solutions and a market-leading platform for coverholder, facility and wholesale business in London. I can’t wait to get started.”
