The company was claiming to work for Balcia Insurance SE

The FCA has identified and sent out a warning over a new clone broker.

Minsura has been operating under the lie that it is associated for Balcia Insurance SE, a subsidiary of Latvia-based insurer Balcia Insurance.

Balcia Insurance SE currently operates in the UK, France, Germany, Poland, Italy and Spain.

The FCA says Minsura is not authorised or registered to operate in the UK, whereas almost all firms have to be.

The FCA also says fraudsters usually use this tactic when contacting people out of the blue, so consumers should be especially wary if they have been cold called.

The regulator provides step-by-step guides on how to protect yourself from theses fraudsters, and what to do when approached by a clone firm, which can be found on its website.
