Commercial insurance broker Finch Group has acquired Richmond-based independent broker Shene (Insurance), a Broker Network member.

The transaction marks Finch Group’s 10th acquisition in three years.

Shene (Insurance), which operates a mixed commercial and personal lines portfolio, was established in 1959. The business, owned and run by Philip and Deborah Alexander, manages more than £2m in gross written premium (GWP).

Shene (Insurance) currently employs four members of staff, all of whom will remain will the business following the acquisition. The organisation will also stay in its existing premises.

New start

Vince Gardner, managing director at Finch Group, said: “This is a fantastic way for us to start the year and it’s great to add another like-minded regional, independent broker to the Finch Group.

“The team at Shene is a well-respected broking firm within the local community that has flourished under the leadership of Philip and Deborah since they took the reins in 2006.

“I’m excited to begin working with the team to expand the client base further.”

Finch Group operates from offices in Bournemouth, Southampton, Isle of Wight, Basingstoke, Oxford and Reading, employing more than 100 staff. The organisation manages a total £62m of GWP and partnered with Ethos Broking, a network for independent brokers, in November 2016.
