Akanksha Rais, founder and chief executive at Capitawise, explains why her firm should win the Innovation of the Year – Service Provider award

Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

Akanksha Rais, founder and chief executive at Capitawise

Insurance finance teams make some of the most consequential decisions in the market, yet most still piece together actuarial, capital, investment and liquidity data from spreadsheets and disconnected systems. We built Capitawise to change that.

Our platform connects those functions into one governed intelligence layer, so CFOs, CROs, actuaries and investment managers can see their capital position and act on it in real time. This category recognises service providers changing how the industry works and that is what we set out to do. Entering was our chance to show the market what connected capital intelligence looks like in practice.

What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

Most tools solve one piece of the puzzle. Capitawise connects actuarial modelling, capital and solvency, operational cashflow and investment decisions in a single platform, with InvestMatch matching portfolios to liability profiles and solvency requirements.

It is already live and we have a tremendous response from insurance, reinsurance and captive markets across the globe. This year we have been recognised at the Captive Review Awards USA and the British Insurance Tech Awards. We think that combination of breadth, speed and proof sets us apart.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning would mean a great deal to our whole team. We are a young company tackling a problem the industry has lived with for decades and recognition from Insurance Times, judged by people who know this market, would tell us we are on the right track.

It would also help us reach more finance and risk leaders who are still stuck reconciling spreadsheets at quarter end and make the most critical decisions with a 12 month old dataset. Most of all, it would be a thank you to the clients and partners who trusted us early and helped shape the platform into what it is today.
