1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

Edward Clark, founder and chief executive at Paper Insurance

Our entry stands out because it passes the real test of AI. Within months, our customers using the software have found Paper indispensable.

We have one UK MGA that went live in February, very quickly, every new account they handle is processed through Paper. By September, new business enquiries were up 25% on last year. Paper has saved them almost 2,600 hours of data entry, that is almost three people full-time.

AI is vital in every aspect of what we do but at our core, we understand the insurance workflow and where our technology can dramatically improve it.

2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

Having spent 25 years in the Lloyd’s market watching brilliant underwriters and brokers spend hours every day retyping data, reformatting submissions or chasing information, Paper was set up to solve this problem. AI has allowed us to do that.

Winning would mean three things. First, it validates our small team, split between London and Buenos Aires, building everything in-house.

Second, it would prove that relentless focus on one specific problem is how genuinely difficult problems get solved.

And third, it would be for our customers, who trusted a small team like ours.

3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

We have solved a problem the market has lived with for decades.

Excellent AI isn’t about replacing people but enabling them to focus on judgment rather than data entry.

Paper takes each submission, structures every data point, traces it back to the source document before auditing and scoring its own confidence. Where it’s uncertain, a person decides. Where it’s confident, the data flows directly into the customer’s systems.

We put ourselves forward because the team has built something that solves the problem and this award is how the market finds out.
