Why did you put yourselves forward for the category?

The FCA’s removal of the 15-hour CPD requirement under PS25/21 did not lower the bar but shifted the focus to demonstrable competence. Insurance firms remain responsible for their people’s capabilities, but training completion alone cannot prove practical understanding.

Drawing on 27 years training the insurance market, we developed an outcomes-based learning platform, combining insurance-optimised training needs analysis, real world scenario-based assessments and up-to-date courses written by insurance experts to help organisations target development.

We put ourselves forward because we believe this represents an important step forward for insurance learning technology – moving the focus from hours logged to the ability to apply knowledge and judgement in practice.

What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

Generic learning platforms deliver content and leave firms to work out whether it worked. Our platform closes that loop by bringing assessment, development and evidence of competence together in one system. Our insurance-optimised training needs analysis and competency framework cover all major insurance job functions and align with the CII Professional Map.

Learners who rate themselves as highly competent must prove their capabilities through answering real world insurance scenarios in their own words. Artificial intelligence (AI) assesses their responses with expert review available to support the process. Most importantly, every step is recorded, creating an evidence trail to track learning. Pre-populated insurance-specific roles, competencies, courses and scenarios can be adapted to organisational needs.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Recognition from Insurance Times would mean a great deal to the whole Zing team. Building a new learning platform was a significant decision for a business of our size and was driven by what our clients told us – they wanted a clearer link between training and competence, less administration and evidence they could stand behind.

An award would inform the wider market that this approach holds up. It would also help make the case that the end of the hours-based model is an opportunity rather than a compliance burden. For a business that serves more than 30,000 learners across over 400 client organisations, that is the standard we want to help set.
