Social distancing guidelines has meant sports cannot go ahead

Premier League clubs could face an increase on their insurance policies to ensure their squads are covered for coronavirus.

And some insurers are looking to exclude Covid-19 from policies to prevent pay outs should players test positive, according to The Telegraph.

This is because medical cover has been an issue at top-flight clubs coming back to training as doctors cannot be on site under the government social distancing guidelines.

Therefore, guaranteeing players and staff are fully insured could be an issue when sports restarts.

In France, Montpellier midfielder Junior Sambia was taken into intensive care with severe Covid-19 symptoms last month, and insurers will be looking carefully at this.
