David Greaves – QBE’s former head of SME and e-trade has joined broker, Acorn Insurance and Financial Services as its new director for products and schemes.

He told Insurance Times: “I am delighted to be part of the group and looking forward to helping with the profitable growth of our specialist motor portfolio whilst continuing to innovate and service our customers.”

Liverpool-based Acorn Insurance and Financial Services was established in 1981, it offers car, taxi and home insurance in the UK.

Acorn has shot up the Top 50 Broker rankings in recent years, climbing four places to 21 this year with £73m brokerage. 

Greaves held his previous position at QBE for over 7 years, during his time there he pioneered the insurers UK SME e-trade programme and managed a team of 94 people across underwriting, operations, e-trade, product development, pricing & data as well as business assurance.

Prior to this Greaves worked in several senior roles at RSA including SME trading director for over three years and deals director for nearly two years.

Greaves’s successor at QBE has not been revealed yet but the insurer has been contacted for comment.
