Director says the business is keen to explore ‘exciting new opportunities’ through the Lloyd’s market

Queensland-headquartered MGA Collaboration Underwriting (CoLab), which was incubated by Lloyd’s broker Quick Ralf and Grant (QRG), has gained Lloyd’s coverholder approval – effective from 5 August 2025.

Known as Resilience Professions prior to a rebrand in 2021, CoLab specialises in the provision of directors’ and officers’ (D&O) liability cover and excess layer professional indemnity products across both the Australian and London insurance markets.

The MGA is led by director and principal underwriter Alistair Sandilands, who spearheaded the firm’s new image upon joining the business. Sandilands has held a wide range of industry roles over the course of his career, serving tenures at Hiscox, Chubb, HDI Global, Marsh and Sedgwick – to name a few.

Speaking on CoLab’s coverholder status, Sandilands said: “We are proud to have been granted the status of a Lloyd’s coverholder – an endorsement we regard with great responsibility and commitment.

“As underwriters, we consider the best interests of our capacity providers to be our own best interests. In the same way, we now view Lloyd’s best interests as our own.”

’New opportunities’

Sandilands continued: “The combination of Lloyd’s renowned capacity and CoLab’s local insight, agility and expertise presents exciting new opportunities for the Australasian insurance market.

“We look forward to working closely with our partners, brokers and insureds as we expand our client base in the months ahead.”

Richard Gildea, head of MGAs at QRG, added: “Sandilands identified a clear market need for quality, tailored products underpinned by the highest quality capacity.

“We have been pleased to support CoLab on its journey to becoming a Lloyd’s coverholder and are excited to work with [the firm as it grows].”
