The firm’s interim chief executive will step down

Global specialty insurer and reinsurer SiriusPoint has appointed former RSA UK and international boss Scott Egan as its new chief executive, effective from 21 September 2022.

Egan led RSA’s UK and international business as chief executive for just over four years, stepping down in December 2021. Prior to this role, he was the insurer’s chief financial officer for two years.

Following Egan’s appointment, SiriusPoint’s interim chief executive, Daniel Malloy, will step down.

He has served in this role since May 2022, when firm’s previous chairman and chief executive Siddhartha Sankaran resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Sharon Ludlow, interim chair of the board of directors at SiriusPoint, said: “The board of directors has concluded a rigorous search and we are thrilled to welcome Egan to SiriusPoint.

”Egan’s leadership qualities and experience are well suited to SiriusPoint and the opportunities ahead.

“The board and I would like to thank Malloy for his ongoing leadership as interim chief executive. We are grateful for Malloy’s support during this period of transition, where he has worked with our management team to ensure the continued execution of our strategy and success of our business.

“The board looks forward to working with Egan and the management team to shape our business and create sustainable value for our partners and investors.”

Track record

Egan has more than 25 years of insurance industry experience.

He started out at Aviva, when it was called Norwich Union, back in 1995. He worked there for more than 12 years, in roles such as director of partnerships.

Egan then moved to Zurich as its UK chief financial officer in 2007, later taking on the role of chief financial controller.

He has also worked as chief financial officer at Brit Insurance, as well as interim chief executive and chief financial officer for Towergate Broking.

Egan said: “I am excited to join SiriusPoint at this key stage in the company’s transformation. I look forward to working closely with the executive team and colleagues across the business to help SiriusPoint achieve its potential to become a best in class operator.”

Ludlow added: “Egan brings extensive expertise of leading businesses through transformation and growth and has a successful track record in risk and financial management.”
