Insurance Times rounds up the biggest moves and promotions from 6 to 9 May 2025

Starting off the week, Broker Insights reinforced its executive team with a raft of senior appointments, including the hire of Stuart Spink as chief operating officer.

Spink previously served as head of delegated underwriting performance at Lloyd’s and also held senior roles at Aviva, including head of schemes and DUA operations.

Then, Broadway Insurance Partners made two new senior appointments in the latest phase of its strategic expansion.

The appointees include Stuart Lowe, who has taken his place as the boutique broker’s director of risk protection, and Nicola Blunt, who has been named managing partner of the new Lancashire site.

Following this, Lloyd’s appointed Patrick Tiernan as its new chief executive.

Tiernan, who succeeds John Neal, will commence his tenure as the new top boss on 1 June 2025.

After that, Aventum-owned Consilium appointed Nick Woodward as its new chief claims officer.

In his new role, Woodward will lead the (re)insurance broker’s claims advocacy team and ensure they provide clients with strategic propositions.

Finally, Aviva made four underwriting appointments after opening a new trading office in Cardiff.

The new hires include Gez Elmes, Harrison Carter, Sam Budge and Ieuan Ringwood – all four will be based at the new branch, which opened on 6 May 2025.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
