Speaking about taking on his new role at Hood Group, Paddock said: “I am delighted to be joining Hood Group at such an important point in its journey. The business has built an impressive reputation over four decades, with strong relationships across the affinity and partnership market and a clear commitment to delivering great outcomes for partners and customers.”

Then, Zurich appointed Anita Gabat as head of commercial insurance in the UK, promoting the current head of property to oversee the insurer’s wider commercial portfolio.

This week also saw a departure as PIB Group announced that Brendan McManus is stepping down from his role as group chief executive.

The search for his successor is underway.

Next, Arch Insurance International appointed Gaurav Sharma as chief information officer with immediate effect.

Based in London, Sharma will be responsible for leading the execution of the insurer’s technology modernisation programme, supporting the insurer’s wider business strategy and long-term growth ambitions.

Rounding off the week, Markel Insurance appointed Nick Rugg as head of financial institutions and fintech, PFR and cyber within its London specialty insurance operation.
