The organisation said it wanted to provide ‘humane values’ and ‘assurance’ to its customers

Low-cost Vietnamese airline Vietjet has created its own travel insurance product, providing up to 200,000,000 Vietnamese Dong (VND) against Covid-19 infections – this equates to around £6,783.

The Sky Covid Care insurance, which offers between 20,000,000 VND (£679) and 200,000,000 VND (£6,783), is available for all passengers travelling on Vietjet’s domestic flights between 23 March and 30 June 2020.

The 30-day policy starts at 00.01 on the passenger’s flight date and covers customers regardless of how they may be infected with Covid-19.

Vietjet are also paying the premiums of the new policy in order to bring its customers “assurance”.

In a statement, the airline said: “Tens of billion dong paying for the insurance premiums are covered entirely by Vietjet, with the purpose to bring passengers assurance when flying.

“The health [and] safety of passengers and cabin crews are protected at the highest level against all risks of disease.

“The difficulties and the pandemic will soon be over. In a world full of uncertainties, Vietjet desires to bring humane values [and] assurance to passengers and to the community.”

To be eligible for insurance coverage, passengers need to provide all information in accordance with Vietjet’s terms and conditions when purchasing tickets, as well as comply with all regulations on disease prevention and coronavirus control from Vietjet, the Ministry of Health and related authorities.
