Lloyd’s insurer Novae has hired James Creasy as class underwriter in its cyber division.

He reports to Novae head of cyber Dan Trueman.

Creasy was previously senior financial lines underwriter at AIG’s Cat Excess Liability division, where he was responsible for the professional indemnity and cyber book.

Before this he spent three years at WR Berkley Insurance as a professional indemnity underwriter.

Creasy said: “Cyber is a rapidly growing area and Novae has been at the forefront of the market in developing a specialism for this class of business. I am looking forward to working with Dan and the team.”

Novae casualty head Jo Butcher added: “Novae launched its cyber division at the beginning of 2014 and in just over a year we have seen significant growth in this niche and complex class, as awareness of cyber risks is increasing.

“We need talented underwriters like James to help us take advantage of these opportunities; his experience and relationships in the market will play an important role in helping us expand our offering.”
