Specialty insurer and reinsurer Odyssey Re has said that pre-tax losses from Hurricane Katrina will run between $80m and $100m in the third quarter of 2005.

The company said its estimate was based on an aggregate industry loss of about $30bn, but added that "due to the extraordinary nature of this event" there remains "substantial uncertainty" about forecasts.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
