As Backchat can attest, mixing alcohol and auctions is dangerous.
BGL Group invited Backchat to a gourmet evening on Saturday at the Marriott hotel in Peterborough. The event, held in support of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, included dinner and wine tasting, hosted by a wine master, John Hoskins.
Needless to say, a fair amount of alcohol was consumed and when it came time to bid on a golf resort package, Backchat was far too eager. After bidding up to £300 and being outdone, Backchat was considering going for £800. Luckily, reason prevailed and Backchat pulled out of the running.
But the table still had something to celebrate by winning two raffle prizes. BGL senior PR executive Sarah Latter and her new husband Steve (pictured, above) ended up with leather wine goblets, while senior PR manager Faith McMath won vouchers.
