Brokers can now get commission for selling Western Provident Association's (WPA) online private medical policy XS Health.

Those brokers registered with WPA will receive a one-off introductory fee of £100 for policies sold to people aged 29 or over. For people under 29, there is an initial fee of £50, with £50 payable on the first renewal.

Customers who take out XS Health policies pay the first £1,500 of their total annual private healthcare bill. XS Health then covers the rest. Customers aged over 60 have to find the first £3,000 before they can claim.

WPA's revamped Provident Dental Health Insurance is also available through brokers for the first time. The policy covers 75% of routine dental costs up to £250 a year and up to £20,000 for dental injuries.

WPA is also expanding its presence online with the launch of wpa.org.uk, a site on which it hopes to sell all its personal lines products by the end of the year.
