If parents are worried that their beautiful darlings might grow up into party animals and wreck the homestead once home alone, they should be, according to new research from Zurich Insurance.

UK teenagers have partied their way through £136m of damage to their parents' homes over the past five years. Nearly half (45%) of teenagers have thrown parties and, of these, 43% have resulted in domestic damage.

And for any parent planning on leaving their teenager home alone, an average repair bill of £132 might cause them to think again.

Backchat recommends that all children ready to flout authority should check their parents' policy wording before doing so.
