The AAA counterparty credit and insurer financial strength rating of Prudential's operating companies have been confirmed by Standard & Poor's. It also confirmed the Pru's plc's AA+ counterparty credit and senior unsecured debt ratings and its A-1plus short-term counterparty credit and commercial paper ratings.
However, it said the outlook for Prudential and its operating companies was negative, due to the intense pressure they are under from UK regulatory and competitive conditions.
Standard & Poor's said it expected the group's position in the UK to remain stable and its improvement in the US and Asia to continue.
