A combined home and travel insurance initiative from Prudential will yield customers substantial cash savings, the company claims.

The company says that an average family going to Florida on a fortnight's holiday would save around £100 on their travel insurance when compared to quotes available on the high street.

The product is being offered direct – but will only be available to existing Plain Speaking Home Insurance policyholders, or to customers taking out the policy for the first time.

"Combining home and travel insurance policies has the double advantage of spreading the costing as well as saving money, said Prudential's head of home insurance Nigel Bruce.

He said that the savings on the Florida example quoted above are enough to get a family a day pass to Disney's Magic Kingdom – which it costs at £99.

"For customers who take more than one trip abroad, the annual policy not only saves money but it also saves a lot of time and inconvenience," he added.
