Broker David Gibson, who staged a Reggie Perrin-style disappearance amid allegations of financial impropriety, has been found.

The Stranraer church elder disappeared on February 11 and his car was found abandoned at Ayr on February 16.

However, a Dumfries police spokeswoman said Gibson had been identified by a member of the public on March 7 and was now in contact with police.

Police will not reveal his whereabouts and although his wife Dorothy and children are aware that he has been found, Gibson will not allow police to tell them where he is living.

The spokeswoman said police inquiries into Gibson's brokerage were continuing.
