Managing agency hires former Lloyd’s franchise performance director

Rolf Tolle, former franchise performance director at Lloyd’s, will join the board of Lloyd’s managing agency Beazley Furlonge, subject to regulatory approval. Beazley Furlonge is part of UK insurance group Beazley.

Tolle retired as franchise performance director at Lloyd’s in December after seven years in the role. Before that, he served as chief underwriting officer of Faraday Group, General Re’s Lloyd’s insurance and reinsurance operation.

“The high reputation that the Lloyd’s market enjoys today around the world is in no small measure due to the discipline and judgment that Rolf brought to the job of Lloyd’s first franchise performance director,” said Beazley chief executive Andrew Horton in a statement.

“His underwriting experience and deep knowledge of the global insurance market will be invaluable as we continue to develop our business.”

Tolle added: “I am delighted to be joining the board of Beazley Furlonge, a Lloyd’s managing agency that I have long respected. Beazley combines the qualities of judicious underwriting and responsive claims service that are the hallmarks of the Lloyd’s market.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
