Rare honour given to retiring Rolf Tolle for restoring image

Lloyd's has given its franchise performance director Rolf Tolle a silver medal for his services to the market over the past seven years.

Lloyd's Chairman, Lord Levene presented the Silver Medal for Services to Lloyd's to Tolle at a special dinner last night in Lloyd's Adam Room to mark his retirement.

The medal is in recognition of the role that Tolle has played in establishing a new commercial partnership with the market and helping to restore its profitability.

Restoring Lloyd’s image

Lord Levene said: "Rolf has played a crucial role in restoring Lloyd's image and re-establishing its reputation as the world's leading specialist insurance market over the last seven years.

“His focus on standards and underwriting discipline has helped ensure that the market has returned to financial strength and stability."

The first silver medal was awarded in 1917 and since then only a handful of Lloyd's staff and members have received one.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
