Scor is reported to have moved into pole position in the race to acquire Scottish Re.

According to the Financial Times' Germany division, FT Deutschland, the French reinsurer is ready to make an offer for the ailing life reinsurer.

Scor was first linked to a possible acquisition in September, along with Hannover Re and Swiss Re.

The group recently acquired German life reinsurer Revios, a deal which was cited in the decisions by rating agencies AM Best and Moody's to upgrade Scor.
