Athletes are being offered cover for rehabilitation treatment at Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire

Brokers John Henshall and underwriters Crispin Spears have devised a policy that can be sold either as a stand-alone or alongside another private medical insurance policy.

The nationwide scheme enables anyone needing treatment for injuries to stay at the UK's only residential sports rehabilitation centre.

The policy will be launched by Jane Sixsmith, the England hockey player.

“In sports like hockey, injuries are a common occurrence and I am delighted that this policy will, for the first time, open the way for players of any standard to benefits from the medical facilities and services offered at Lilleshall,” she said.
