The majority of brokers who supported Norwich Union with professional indemnity business will be able to renew with The St Paul.

The St Paul, which recently acquired the rights to renew Norwich Union's £15 million professional indemnity portfolio, said the move had been well received in the broker market.

Deputy general manager David Bevan said as many brokers agents as possible who supported Norwich Union with PI business would be accommodated. "This may involve using the services of one or more specialist PI brokers who can offer support to those agents for whom PI may be only an incidental activity," he said.

"We only operate with a limited broker agency base, as we believe that this approach gives our main supporters competitive advantage."
